
ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s volleyball team is heading to the United East Conference Championship match for the first time in program history after a thrilling straight-set victory over Lancaster Bible College, winning 3–0 (25–22, 25–20, 26–24) on Tuesday night inside the Michael P. O’Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena.
In front of an electric home crowd, the No. 2–seeded Seahawks (16–14) used a balanced attack and key late-set runs to sweep the No. 3 Chargers (17–12) and secure their spot in the conference final.
Sanaa Porter led the way with a dominant 14 kills on a .346 hitting percentage, while Maya Mauro powered the offense with 13 kills, one ace, and seven digs. Julia Bobrowski added eight kills, two aces, and four blocks, and Hope Parrish contributed six kills and steady play at the net.
Setters Camilla Galeano and Arielle Lubeck combined for 42 assists and 10 digs, while Stella Marrero anchored the back row with 17 digs and consistent serve-receive play. Faith Shockley added three kills and two blocks, and Vlada Costenco made an impact from the service line with five aces.
After taking the first two sets, St. Mary’s fought off a late Lancaster Bible rally in the third. The Seahawks trailed 21–19 before kills from Porter and Mauro, followed by a clutch Bobrowski block, sealed the sweep at 26–24.
As a team, the Seahawks hit .189, tallied nine service aces, and recorded eight total blocks, while holding Lancaster Bible to a .136 hitting percentage.
With the win, St. Mary’s advances to the United East Championship match for the first time in program history, where the Seahawks will face top-seeded Penn State Harrisburg for the conference title later this week
