GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A late-night drug investigation in Glen Burnie on Wednesday led to the arrest of a Severn man and the seizure of a loaded handgun, extended magazine, and multiple controlled substances, Anne Arundel County Police said.

Detectives from the Eastern District were conducting surveillance around 11:45 p.m. on Aug. 13, 2025, in the 7900 block of Silent Winds Court when they reported seeing what appeared to be an illegal drug transaction. Officers approached a gray Honda sedan and detained the driver, later identified as 23-year-old Shawn Carter Gross.

Police said a search of the vehicle turned up a 9mm Springfield Armory handgun loaded with 16 rounds, a 30-round extended magazine, about 97 grams of suspected cannabis, four Suboxone strips, one Oxycodone pill, and a digital scale.

Gross was taken into custody and charged with multiple drug and firearm offenses, including possession with intent to distribute cannabis, possession of controlled substances, and firearm use during a drug trafficking crime.

Court records show Gross was released Thursday on his own recognizance pending trial.
