UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – On December 2, 2025, the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office arrested Erica Terry on an open warrant related to an ongoing homicide investigation. Terry was taken into custody and charged with Murder and Second-Degree Escape.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on December 12, 2024, when officers responded to a reported altercation in which one individual required medical assistance.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult female. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Terry, who remained on site, was transported to the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Major Crimes Division- Homicide Unit for questioning. Detectives subsequently obtained charges, and she was transported to the Upper Marlboro Department of Corrections.
On April 20, 2025, Terry became eligible for the Electronic Home Monitoring Program while awaiting trial. The following day, the monitoring company reported a strap-tamper alert from her device. Multiple attempts to contact Terry were unsuccessful, and an additional warrant was issued for Second-Degree Escape. Terry fled while facing both the original murder and escape charges.
We are pleased to report that Terry has now been taken back into custody. The Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to apprehending individuals who attempt to evade the justice process and ensuring the safety of our community.

This is a tragic case from start to finish, but I’m glad to see law enforcement finally get Erica Terry back into custody. A homicide investigation is serious on its own, but tampering with an electronic monitoring device and attempting to escape justice only makes the situation worse. Hopefully this arrest brings the victim’s family one step closer to closure. Justice should never be something anyone can run from, and it’s good to see the Sheriff’s Office staying committed to keeping the community safe.
