SOLOMONS, Md. — The Calvert County Department of Public Works, Water & Sewerage Division, is beginning a planned sewer main lining project on Monday, April 6.
According to a press release, the department expects to complete the project by the following day, Tuesday, April 7. The work will begin at Newtown Road in Solomons and continue south to Spinnaker Way during daytime hours. The activities will take place within the right of way next to H.G. Trueman Road.
At this time, Public Works says it does not expect any impact to customer service and does not believe traffic on the route of work will be impacted. However, the sidewalk may be temporarily closed during this time, so people who live and work in the area who often walk between locations are advised to plan ahead for Monday and Tuesday.
Sewer main lining is a maintenance process that reinforces existing sewer pipes by installing a durable liner inside the pipe that extends the life of the system. This process is faster and typically cheaper than replacing whole pieces of the sewer system.
The Department of Public Works wrote in the release that it “appreciates the public’s patience and understanding during this essential maintenance.” For questions or concerns, call the Water & Sewerage Division at 410-535-1600, ext. 2329.
Residents can also learn more about the water and sewer system and stay up to date on maintenance projects on the water and sewer section of the county website.
