INDIAN HEAD, Md. — Thanksgiving night at a motel ended with an Indian Head man facing assault charges after an alleged attack on a woman following a visit from escorts, according to charging documents.
Andre Ramon Carter, 66, of Indian Head, is charged with first-degree assault, a felony, and second-degree assault in connection with a Nov. 27, 2025, incident at the Indian Head Inn on Strauss Avenue.
Charles County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched around 6:12 p.m. for a reported domestic assault at the motel. Outside one of the rooms, deputies encountered a visibly agitated woman who said she had been drinking but had not used drugs.
Charging documents state that Carter had invited escorts to their room earlier that evening and that the adult female victim, who was staying with him, went outside while they were there. When she later returned and fell inside the room, Carter allegedly tried to pick her up, then grabbed her neck with both hands and began choking her when she refused to get up.
The woman reported that she could not breathe and that Carter said, “I will kill you.”
Pfc. Richard Welch noted that her neck was red and that she had a small cut on the left side of her neck that may have come from being scratched.
Deputies attempted to contact Carter, but he locked the deadbolt on the motel room door and refused to open it, according to the charging documents.
Carter was later placed under arrest and transported to the Charles County Detention Center. He was initially ordered held without bond before District Court Judge Jonas D. Legum later released him on personal recognizance at a Dec. 1 bail review hearing.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 16 in Charles County District Court.
