police lights in Maryland

SEVERN, Md. — A routine traffic stop in Anne Arundel County turned into a dramatic nighttime pursuit Thursday when a wanted suspect bolted from his vehicle, only to be taken into custody moments later.

At approximately 9:25 p.m. on March 6, 2025, officers initiated a stop on a gray Honda Cross-tour near Golden Eagle Lane and Redhawk Way. The driver, later identified as 24-year-old Thomas Lee Gross of Severn, was already wanted in connection with a citizen robbery.

As officers approached the vehicle, Gross made a break for it, fleeing on foot into the darkness. But his escape was short-lived. Authorities quickly caught up to him a short distance away, taking him into custody without further incident.

A subsequent search of the vehicle unearthed a staggering cache of narcotics, including approximately 13 suspected Oxycodone pills, 11.5 suspected Alprazolam pills, 23 suspected MDMA pills, an ounce of suspected Promethazine, 16.73 grams of suspected Psilocybin Mushrooms, and an estimated 913.27 grams—just over two pounds—of suspected cannabis. Officers also recovered $2,717 in cash, believed to be connected to drug distribution.

Gross was arrested and is now facing an array of charges, including multiple counts of drug possession and possession with intent to distribute. In addition, he was charged with failure to obey a lawful order and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The open warrant against Gross added even more weight to the case. He was already wanted on charges of robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and theft between $100 and $1,500.

Gross is currently being held without bond.
