
UPDATE – ‘The Wire’ Star Bobby J. Brown Found Dead After Barn Fire In St. Mary’s County
CHAPTICO, Md. — One person was found dead late Tuesday night after a fully involved barn fire in Chaptico.
Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 10:03 p.m. on Feb. 24, 2026, to the 36000 block of Roosevelt Boulevard for a reported barn fire with a possible person trapped inside.
Units arrived to find a 50-by-100-foot barn fully engulfed in flames, with exposure concerns to nearby structures. Firefighters quickly began an aggressive attack, placing water on the fire while assessing the report of a trapped individual.
During suppression operations, crews located one deceased male victim inside the structure.
The fire was brought under control as firefighters continued to hit hot spots and conduct overhaul operations. Officials have not released the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
