HARWOOD, Md. — One of the best parts of living in Southern Maryland is all of the fun seasonal activities on local farms. This weekend, The BayNet headed to Knightongale Farm for their annual fall festival, where we got to try out fun activities, picked some choice pumpkins, and had an all-around great time. This fall fest was a fun way to spend a Saturday, and we saw people of all ages enjoying the activities.

Knightongale Farm is located off Route 2 in Harwood, in southern Anne Arundel County, and is notable for the giant hay bale spider at its entrance. Knightongale is an 82-acre working farm owned by Joel Greenwell Sr. and his family — the farm is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

The Fall Festival usually starts the last weekend of September and ends the weekend before Halloween — that means the festival’s final weekend is coming up. The last day is Oct. 26, so you still have time to squeeze in some fall fun.

Tickets are sold online and at the gate. General admission is $13.95 online and $15.95 at the gate. Military, first responders, and seniors 65+ are $11.95 online and $13.95 at the gate. Kids 2 and under are free.

Check out our day at the farm as we enjoyed the hayride, basketball, jump pad, mega slides, animals, pony rides, and more. Or better yet — grab your tickets online and see for yourself.

The Apple Cannon At Knightongale Farm

The Apple Cannon is a popular attraction at Knightongale Farm. This is an add-on to your regular ticket — a bucket of 20 apples is $15. You can add it onto your online ticket or pay cash at the farm.

Shooting the Apple Cannon is harder than it looks. With a little patience you can hit the target, and wow, it is satisfying. We totally get why this is such a popular activity at the festival.

The Mega Slide At Knightongale Farm

This fun slide consists of two black tubes that run through the ground and take visitors from the top level of the farm to the lower level. The stairs work, too, but this was a way more fun form of travel.

The Mega Slide is popular for kids and adults, and it was fun to see everyone so excited to try it.

Pony Rides At Knightongale Farm

Pony rides at the farm are offered for $8 each. Riders under 100 pounds can saddle up on one of the ponies, including the delightfully named Pumpkin Spice, or PS. Kids were loving the pony rides, and virtually no one was ready to stop after their three laps.

The pony rides are at the top of the hill, so watch out for the hayride as you make your way up and enjoy swings, tetherball, and roping practice.

Farm Animal Petting At Knightongale Farm

We said hello to a cow, goats, and a pair of piglets at the festival. The cow in particular was so sweet and let us rub her head. The pigs also liked to lay by the edge of their pen for belly rubs.

Feed was available for an additional cost and, like any petting zoo experience, visitors should be advised to be gentle, respectful, and watch their fingers.

Hayride At Knightongale Farm

If you have a hayride or tractor enthusiast in your group, the hayride is a must. The ride goes around the farm and you can see the crops, get a good view of the corn maze, and look for spooky decorations in the trees along the way.

The hayride is a little under 15 minutes, and there’s always a line. We suggest lining up when the last ride leaves to make sure you get on the next one.

Fun Stuff for Kids At Knightongale Farm

There was something for kids everywhere we turned! The big corn pits were popular for younger kids, and there was barnyard basketball, a bouncy horse corral, and plenty to climb on. There are 20+ activities at the festival and we never ran out of things to do.

Pumpkin Patch At Knightongale Farm

Even if you think you’re set on pumpkins this late in October… don’t skip this pumpkin patch. There was a wide variety, including some pumpkins so perfect we weren’t sure they were real. We’re talking perfect jack-o’-lantern specimens.

The patch also had gourds and smaller pumpkins, and you could borrow a wagon or sled to make your selections. There were also pumpkins at the exit if you wanted a pumpkin without the patch.

The fall festival also has food trucks serving lemonade, sandwiches and kettle corn, as well as beer and wine offerings on site. Visit Knightongale Farm online or on Facebook to learn more about the festival and get your tickets.

Send us your favorite fall festival photos! We can’t wait to see how everyone celebrates fall in Southern Maryland.
