
ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A serious two-motor vehicle collision in Annapolis last Friday has resulted in the death of a child.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. on May 31, 2024. A crash reconstructionist who arrived at the scene determined that a blue Toyota Highlander, while attempting to turn left from Forest Drive onto S. Cherry Grove Avenue, failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic. It was struck by a Ford Expedition traveling outbound on Forest Drive.
The Toyota was carrying three individuals. One of the passengers, an 11-year-old, was airlifted by Maryland State Police to Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries. The drivers of both vehicles and a 9-year-old child in the Toyota were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The 11-year-old passenger in the Toyota, who was initially reported to be in critical condition, was taken off life support on June 5, 2024, with their family present.
The driver of the 2016 Ford, was a 17-year-old juvenile, while the 2006 Toyota was driven by Samuel Jeronimo-Chajaj.
Anne Arundel Mobile Crisis and the Annapolis Police Department’s Crisis Intervention Team are currently providing support to the affected families.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
