PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — The Prince George’s County government has reported difficulty cleaning up trash and other abandoned items from public places in the past. A new initiative is here to help solve the problem. On Aug. 11, Prince George’s County Executive Aisha Braveboy announced Strike Force 311 and spoke about the impact the program could have on local communities.

“It’s not just about cleaning up debris or removing abandoned cars; it’s about restoring and renewing hope, and building the kind of Prince George’s County we all deserve to live in,” Braveboy said.

The primary goal of Strike Force 311 is to address a backlog of problems revealed through service requests in the PGC311 system, such as abandoned cars, potholes and other trash littering public spaces across the county. One million dollars in funding was recently committed by Braveboy’s office to aid in the effort.

Over the next 60 days, Strike Force 311 will work seven days a week to solve 13,345 old service requests that were categorized under “nuisance abatement complaints.” With many important requests still pending, Strike Force 311 aims to help create a cleaner and safer community for all Prince George’s County residents.

Strike Force 311 will work with other agencies in Prince George’s County, including the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement and the Department of Public Works and Transportation. The collaboration between agencies shows that if Prince George’s County works together, there is no number of service requests that cannot be addressed.

How to Request Help From Strike Force 311

Strike Force 311 will primarily be resolving older service requests, but residents can still submit new requests by providing information about the situation on the PGC311 webpage. A list of common requests is displayed on the website, such as illegal dumping, abandoned cars and pothole repair.

Additionally, residents who own small businesses in Prince George’s County can partner with Strike Force 311 to help clean up the county. Those who focus on tasks such as tree trimming or landscaping are especially needed to help meet the backlog of service requests. Business owners can visit the Prince George’s County Procurement Portal to join the effort.

Whether you’re a resident or a local business owner, there has never been a better time to help your community by submitting requests or participating in the county cleanup. Throughout the next two months, the Prince George’s County government will aid residents all over the county, creating a stronger community together.
