The Nice/Middleton Bridge (Route 301) has reopened after being temporarily closed in both directions due to high winds earlier today.

Officials had shut down the bridge for safety but have now cleared it for travel. Drivers are urged to remain cautious as weather conditions may still impact roadways.

  1. I was just about 15 minutes away on the Virginia side when my GPS hijacked my route back home to Maryland and sent me west to 95. This added quite a bit of time to my travels — but no where near as much as it would have been to have something serious happen to me while crossing the bridge. Your cautious move might have saved lives as well as vehicles. Thank you.

    1. Same thing happened to me. I was concerned on the approach anyway because the winds were so bad. Iโ€™ll take the inconvenience for my safety, so Iโ€™m grateful to MDTA!

  2. I might as well ask: could we occasionally, suspend the tolls on the bridges. I understand having to have x y + z, but, it seems we could have , for at least 1 month a year, a toll vacation.
