
UPDATE – 5/2/2025 – Police Identify Woman Struck And Killed While Crossing Old Washington Road In Wheelchair
WALDORF, Md. –A person in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday evening, May 1, 2025, in Waldorf, prompting a large emergency response and multiple 911 calls.
Crews arrived around 8:17 p.m. at the intersection of Old Washington Road and Trade Zone Court. Early reports from witnesses indicated a pedestrian in a wheelchair had been hit by a vehicle near the busy retail corridor.
One witness told dispatchers they heard a loud crash while walking into the store, initially believing a bicyclist may have been involved. Others quickly called to report the pedestrian was in a wheelchair and severely injured.
Emergency units were dispatched within minutes. Responders from Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department and Charles County EMS arrived on scene and confirmed the fatality. The identity of the victim has not been released, and officials have not yet confirmed their age or gender.
The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
The intersection was closed temporarily while officials documented the scene.
